Bayfront Health Awards Six Local Organizations for Community Grant Program
Bayfront Health – (April 3, 2023) - Six Pinellas County organizations are recipients of Bayfront Health Community Grant Program. The program offers competitive grants to assist local organizations and hospital team members in their efforts to improve health and wellness in the region.
The grants help address the top three health needs as identified by the 2022 Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Community Health Needs Assessment which are:
- Access to health and social services
- Behavioral health (mental health and substance abuse)
- Exercise, nutrition, and weight
As part of the requirements for submitting applications, initiatives must align with the assessment, which is conducted every three years. Comprehensive data collection and analysis are used to identify key health needs and issues in communities across the region.
The following organizations were awarded grants for their programs:
- AIDS Service Association of Pinellas Inc. “EPIC Food and Personal Need Pantry” - $24,000
- Daystar Life Center, Inc. “Seedlings to Neighbors” - $18,000
- Feeding Tampa Bay, Inc. “Continuation of Food Rx at Johnnie Ruth Clarke Evara Health Clinic” - $25,000
- Gulf Coast Jewish Family and Community Services, Inc. “CALL: Community Assistance Life Liaison” - $25,000
- Heels to Heal, Inc. “Heels to Heal Crisis Counseling Program” - $25,000
- Homeless Empowerment Program “Healthcare Navigation and Evidence Based Wellness Training” - $50,000

About Bayfront Health
The 480-bed Bayfront Health St. Petersburg was founded in 1910. It was acquired October 1, 2020 by Orlando Health, a private, not-for-profit healthcare organization with $8.1 billion of assets under management. More than 4,000 physicians, representing more than 100 medical specialties and subspecialties have privileges across the Orlando Health system, which employs more than 25,000 team members and more than 1,200 physicians.
Orlando Health’s Graduate Medical Education (GME) program hosts more than 350 residents and fellows including more than 40 who are enrolled at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg’s OB/GYN, Family Medicine, Sports Medicine and Pharmacy programs.
In FY22, Orlando Health served nearly 142,000 inpatients and 3.9 million outpatients. The healthcare system provided more than $782 million in total value to the communities it serves in the form of charity care, community benefit programs and services, community building activities and more in FY 21, the most recent period for which this information is available.
