Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Physician Performs 100th Inspire Sleep Therapy Procedure
St. Petersburg, FL (September 19, 2022)- Bayfront Health St. Petersburg physician Julia Pfaff, DO just performed her 100th Inspire procedure to treat a patient suffering from sleep apnea. The device is an option for patients who may be looking for an alternative to using a CPAP machine to help with their condition. Inspire therapy works by a having a device implanted in the body. It’s designed to open the airway each time the patient initiates a breath. It prevents airway obstruction from the inside out as patients sleep. Patients control the device with a remote control, turning it on just before bed and switching it off when they wake up. Approved for use by the Food and Drug Administration, Dr. Pfaff has been performing Inspire sleep therapy treatments since 2021.
“We have seen that Inspire has changed the lives and overall well-being of patients who have been looking for an alternative to wearing a mask while sleeping” said Dr. Trina Espinola, Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Chief Medical Officer. “As the only place in St. Petersburg, where you can receive Inspire therapy, we have seen tremendous results with patients telling us how it has changed their sleeping patterns and even helped some of their psychological and mental health issues.”
Dr. Pfaff performed her 100th Inspire procedure on August 31, 2022.
