A Welcome Message from the Program Director

Thank you for your interest in the Family Medicine Residency Program at Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital. Bayfront has been at the forefront of healthcare in St. Petersburg, FL for nearly 100 years as a community hospital, trauma center and academic teaching center. We are proud of our tradition of excellence and state-of-the art care for the people of Tampa Bay. We continue to serve the community and region by training highly competent family physicians.

Our goal is to train compassionate and skilled physicians who are capable of practicing in all settings throughout the United States. We train our residents in the breadth of the specialty including training in a busy inpatient service with ICU care, pediatric training in both the outpatient and inpatient settings, obstetric training with our sister OB/GYN residency program, strong sports medicine training and a Sports Medicine Fellowship, and numerous procedural training opportunities.

Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital offers an ACGME-accredited, three year residency program in Family Medicine. Our program trains eight residents each year in the art and science of Family Medicine. We have an amazing group of core faculty who are dedicated to teaching the next generation of physicians. Residents also learn from many adjunct faculty and community physicians during their three years at Bayfront. Throughout their training, residents are given the autonomy to care for their patients and serve as both students and teachers. We learn best by teaching others, so residents have the opportunity to teach medical students and junior residents.

We are delighted that you are interested in our program. Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital's Family Medicine Residency Program can be the beginning of your successful and rewarding career as a Family Physician. We look forward to meeting you.

Best regards,

Lorna Fountain, MD, FAAFP
