A member of the Sports Medicine Fellowship faculty at Bayfront Health St. Petersburg George Canizares, MD is board certified in orthopedic surgery and specializes in sports medicine.
He has served as a team doctor for professional sports teams, including the Miami Heat and Miami Sol, and was selected to the NFL Neutral Physician Examiners Panel. Dr. Canizares also helped develop the sports medicine program at All Florida Orthopaedic Associates.
He completed his medical training at the University of South Florida College of Medicine (Tampa) and his residency in orthopedic surgery at Wayne State University School of Medicine (Detroit). He performed a fellowship in sports medicine at South Florida Orthopaedic Institute (Coral Gables).
