Katherine Wojnowich, MD, FAAFP, CAQSM

Dr. Wojnowich joined the family medicine residency and sports medicine fellowship programs in 2015 and became the director of the sports medicine fellowship in 2020. Originally from the northeast, she completed her undergraduate degree in the classics at Mount Holyoke College and then attended medical school at Mount Sinai School of Medicine through the prestigious Humanities and Medicine program. While in medical school, she was elected by her classmates into the Gold Humanism Society and inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha National Honor Medical Society. She graduated in 2011 with plans to pursue a family medicine residency and sports medicine fellowship. She completed her family medicine residency and sports medicine fellowship at Bayfront and then was delighted to join the faculty in 2015 with the goal of helping to expand the Sports Medicine Center and increase teaching opportunities for the residents and the fellows.

Dr. Wojnowich is a diplomate of the American Board of Family Medicine and holds a Certificate of Added Qualifications in Sports Medicine.  She is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians, a member of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians and the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine.  She holds an appointment with the University of South Florida as an affiliate assistant professor.

Her interests lie in complementary and alternative medicine, nutrition, women's health and of course sports medicine. She enjoys working with the fellows and teaching them procedural skills, including splinting and casting, joint injections, and ultrasound guided diagnosis and injections, as well as regenerative therapies, including platelet rich plasma harvesting and injections. She has published sports articles in FP Essentials and Florida Family Physician as well as 5 Minute Clinical Consults.

When not seeing patients or providing local sideline coverage alongside her fellows for many of our local Tampa Bay colleges and sports teams, Dr. Wojnowich, her husband and their 3 young children enjoy running, kayaking, and exploring the natural beauty of the west coast of Florida.
