Dr. Hector Fontanet is a board-certified cardiovascular disease specialist with Florida Medical Clinic Orlando Health. He has more than 35 years of experience, and his specialties include:

  • Adult congenital heart disease
  • Preventive cardiology
  • Cardiac imaging and CT angiography
  • Cardiomyopathies and heart failure
  • Valvular heart disease
  • Diseases of the thoracic aorta
  • Aneurysm
  • Autonomic diseases

Dr. Fontanet believes the most important thing he can provide his patients is time to listen carefully to their concerns.

Dr. Fontanet’s Training

Dr. Fontanet earned a bachelor’s degree in agricultural science at the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez and received his medical degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine in San Juan. He completed an internal medicine residency at the Veterans Administration Hospital in San Juan and a cardiovascular disease fellowship at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.

About Dr. Fontanet

Dr. Fontanet is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine with board certifications in internal medicine, cardiovascular disease and adult congenital heart disease. He also holds certifications in nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular computed tomography.

His professional memberships include the American College of Cardiology and Adult Congenital Heart Association.

Dr. Fontanet’s work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has participated in research projects to improve cardiovascular disease diagnosis and treatment.

Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, especially watching his grandchildren grow.

He is fluent in English and Spanish.
