Dr. Lowell Dawson is a fellowship-trained interventional neuroradiologist with Bayfront Health St. Petersburg Medical Group. With his specialized training in radiology, Dr. Dawson is able to treat diseases affecting the brain, nerves and spinal cord using minimally invasive surgical techniques. Those conditions include:
- Cerebral aneurysm
- Stroke
- Brain bleeds
- Blood clots in the brain
- Head and neck tumors
- Carotid artery thrombosis
- Dural venous sinus thrombosis
- Idiopathic intracranial hypertension with venous sinus stenting
Dr. Dawson’s Training
Dr. Dawson earned his medical degree from the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he also completed his residencies in diagnostic radiology and vascular and interventional radiology.
Dr. Dawson has also completed two fellowships: one in diagnostic neuroradiology with Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, and the other in endovascular neurosurgery with North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, New York.
About Dr. Dawson
Dr. Dawson is affiliated with the Society of Neurointerventional Surgery, the American College of Radiology, the American Society of Neuroradiology and the Society of Interventional Radiology, among other medical organizations.
His research topics include degenerative aortic valve disease, pulmonary embolisms and medulloblastoma, a type of cancerous brain tumor most commonly seen in children.
Outside of work, Dr. Dawson enjoys sports, physical fitness, music and spending quality time with his family.
