Orlando Health Bayfront Hospital has partnered with the Florida Department of Health to help reduce pregnancy and postpartum complications for the women of Pinellas County. Our free Maternal Telehealth Program is designed to decrease health inequalities, increase access to care and improve birth outcomes to enhance the health and quality of life for the mothers and babies in our community.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for this program, you must live in Pinellas County and be pregnant or in the postpartum period. Postpartum is defined as up to one year after delivery.

You also must meet one or more of the following conditions with your current pregnancy:

  • Any hypertensive disorder of pregnancy (high blood pressure)
  • A secondary chronic illness or disease
  • A cesarean delivery (i.e., C-section) with your most recent delivery
  • Postpartum hemorrhage (bleeding)

How to Enroll

If you are interested in this free telehealth program, call (727) 290-1351 to speak with one of our program telecare registered nurses for more information and to enroll, if eligible.

Appointment Schedule

You will have an appointment schedule with a program telecare nurse, which includes:

  • Telehealth visits starting the first week after enrollment
  • Virtual meetings at least once a month (more often at first)
  • Follow-ups at least once a month for a full year after your delivery experience

During the telehealth visits, the nurse will help with monitoring your progress and checking for potential complications. This will involve some personal questions about your circumstances in order to better help you throughout your pregnancy journey, as well as the healing and coping experience after pregnancy. You will be asked about:

  • Physical Symptoms (for example: Are you experiencing any limitations? Is there any bleeding?)
  • Mental, Emotional and Psychological Symptoms (for example: Are you experiencing mood swings? Do you have any history of anxiety, depression, eating disorders, etc.?)
  • Social Determinants – These are non-medical factors that impact your everyday life conditions (examples: limited access to adequate food, housing instability, unreliable transportation)

Note: Finding any needs or concerns during an appointment is okay. To help provide the best support to you, this may result in more frequent telehealth visits.
