Non-healing wounds occur for many reasons, including complications from diabetes and vascular disorders, pressure sores or previous traumatic wounds. If you have a sore or wound that is not significantly better within a month, or healed entirely in two months, you should talk with your doctor about further care. You may need the experience and expertise of a multidisciplinary wound care team, like the one at the Bayfront Health Wound Care & Hyperbaric Center.

Our center is accredited with distinction by the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society, a complimentary accreditation body with The Joint Commission. We offer a specially designed multidisciplinary approach to care with all the necessary caregivers, including surgeons, specialists, consultants and therapists involved in developing and carrying out each plan of individualized care.

The center also offers multiple hyperbaric chambers, which surround patients with 100 percent oxygen in a comfortable, pressurized chamber that aids in promoting the body’s own natural immune system and healing responses to help heal wounds more easily, from the inside out. Our wound care specialists may use hyperbaric oxygen therapy to treat conditions such as:

  • Air or gas embolisms
  • Bone infections
  • Burns
  • Crush injuries and other traumatic injuries that compromise blood supply to tissues
  • Gangrene
  • Poisoning from carbon monoxide or cyanide
  • Pressure sores
  • Radiation treatment injuries or thermal burns
  • Refractory osteomyelitis
  • Skin grafts
  • Wounds that have not healed with other therapies, such as diabetic foot ulcers

Patients may be referred to the center by a doctor, or you may call the center directly to schedule an appointment at (727) 528-9824.
